Located on the Grossmont College campus, GMCHS is a WASC-accredited alternative high school, providing a bridge to college, career and the future. Juniors and seniors who are capable of succeeding at the college level and who are not engaged in, or challenged by, the traditional high school environment have the opportunity to explore new options in this unique school. They complete requirements for high school graduation while earning college credits and experiencing the world of work.
Open by application to students living throughout San Diego County, it best suits bright students, interested in a serious learning environment, who are out of step with the traditional, comprehensive high school. They take high school English, social studies and AVID College Readiness courses taught by high school instructors while completing an internship in an area related to their career pathway. In addition, all students are required to complete at leastsix college credits per semester which either fulfill high school graduation or college general education requirements.
