Elks Lodge Scholarship Programs

National High School “Most Valuable Student Award”

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be a graduating high school senior.
  • You must plan to attend a 4-year college.

Students are judged on:

  • Scholarship (450 points)
  • Leadership (350 points)
  • Financial Need (200 points)

Students may win money awards given by local, district, state, and National level ranging from $500 to $15,000.

Teenager of the Month

Each month between April 1 and March 31 a committee of Lodge members will select one male teenager and one female teenager to be the “Teenagers of the Month.”

The winners of the award, along with their families, will be invited to be Elk’s guest for dinner and presented with a $200 U.S. Savings Bond and Certificate of Achievement.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The application consists of a nomination form and letter of recommendation from your principal, counselor, or teacher.

Hispanic Heritage Foundation

Hispanic Heritage Foundation and Colgate-Palmolive will award 16 educational grants to Hispanic students nationwide. The Grand Prize winner will receive a $10,000 educational grant, and 15 other students will have the opportunity to win $1,000 each.

Sons of the American Revolution

The 2009-10 George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest is designed to give high school students an opportunity to explore events that shaped American History. The contest is open to all high school students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade during the 2009-10 school year. The National First Place winner will receive $2,000.

Contest entries must be an original essays that address an event, person, philosophy, or ideal associated with the American Revolution, The Declaration of Independence, or the Framing of the United States Constitution. Essays will be judged for historical accuracy, clarity of though, organization, proven topic, grammar, spelling and documentation.

California Association of Collectors, Inc. (CAC)

The California Association of Collectors, Inc. (CAC) is offering three scholarships: First Award of $2,500, Second Award of $2,000, and Third Award of $1,500, to be used at any accredited college, university or vocational school for tuition, fees, and books. Any California high school senior may apply by submitting a one-page application and an essay on the "Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Credit during Your College Years."
