A student-athlete entering an NCAA Division I or Division II college or university must meet specific academic standards as well as minimum SAT or ACT score requirements as determined by a Clearinghouse Certification Specialist in order to be eligible to practice and compete on an inter-collegiate team during his/her freshman year. Freshmen not meeting these standards may still enroll in a Division I or II school, but they will not be allowed to practice or play during their first year. After the first year of attendance, the student may become eligible for financial aid, practice, and competition if he/she is a regularly enrolled student in good academic standing.

NCAA initial eligibility will be evaluated under the 16 core-courserule. Students must complete three years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher), and four years of additional core courses. The additional core courses may be taken in any area: English, mathematics, natural/physical science, social science, foreign language or nondoctrinal religion/philosophy.
