Application
Information
We are now
accepting
Applications for Fall 2008 for the
new Junior class. There may be limited openings in the Senior class.
As
you may know, Grossmont Middle College High School is a WASC accredited
high school open by application to students living in the Grossmont Union
High School District. (Students residing outside the district may attend
by obtaining intra-district transfers.) While there is not a set academic
requirement for admission, students must be “college capable”
as reflected in grades, test scores, writing and speaking ability.
 |
Students
attend daily high school core classes in English, social science
and a wide-ranging AVID study skills course (including critical
thinking and preparation for college admission) in our classroom
on the college campus. These courses are taught by high school instructors;
juniors attend daily from 12:30 p.m. - 3:20 p.m. and seniors attend
from 9:30 a.m. - 12:20 p.m. They take any remaining high school
graduation requirements (such as science, math, language, etc.),
and/or college general education courses, from college instructors.
In addition, all of our students complete an internship related
to their identified career pathway.
As students are required to complete a minimum of six college credits
per semester, it is possible, depending upon a student’s level
of ability and coursework completed upon entry, to earn a year or
more of college credit prior to graduation from high school. |
"We are delighted to have served the needs of an exceptionally diverse,
creative and talented group of young people for the past five years. Over
80% of our 2008 graduates were accepted to four year universities, including
Smith, Webb, and UC and CSU campuses including Berkeley, UCLA, CUSD, Pomona,
and San Diego State. As in the past, a large percentage of our graduates
plan to continue at Grossmont College and transfer; all have carefully
thought-out plans for their future education."
Please feel free to contact us for more information or to schedule a visit
to the campus. Download the GMCHS 2008-09
